Volunteer Spotlight

Sofia has been involved with ALDR since she was a little girl when she would accompany her mother to events. She has always had a special love for animals and wasted no time becoming involved and helping with the rescue. She absolutely loves spending time with the animals and helping out where she can (she gets this from her momma!)

As she became older she has been able to participate more and do more events with ALDR. She had the amazing opportunity to go to Central America in 2022 with ALDR and help out with a Spay & Neuter clinic through Aprovet-Nicaragua. She loved the experience and hopes to do more of these in the future! Sofia currently balances a High School IB curriculum, Vet Assistant program (in HS), HS sports, FFA member, Volunteer opportunities and a relatively typical (filled with family, friends & animals) teenage life, all while doing what she loves most – caring for and surrounding herself with animals.
 

Sofi currently has three pups at home whom were fostered and adopted through ALDR. Jesse James (JJ) was her first foster fail when she was in Elementary school. Recently (in 2022) she welcomed Charlie (also a previous foster) and Yogi to her home. Throughout the years she has had the opportunity to care for numerous ALDR fosters in her home and help them find their forever homes.

She dedicates her time to the rescue any free moment she can, and with so much love and dedication to give, she is a joy to have as part of our ALDR volunteer team!
